Steps to export certificate file in Firefox (I'm using ver 9. I think this will work from ver 3.6, but I'm not sure):

1. Click on the [favicon + host name] in the location bar.
2. Click the [More Information ...] button in the popup.
3. Click on [View Certificate] button.
4. Click on [Details] tab.
5. Click on [Export...] button.
6. Choose file name and path, and save.

Alex: I had the same issue installing under Windows. To get around it, I simply made changes to the scripts based on the warnings. It affected ~10 files and took 15 minutes. After that the code should work. The small code changes are gentle and have not had any side effects. I run some heavy processing through them currently.

I wish these files would be packaged for Windows as nice as they are for Linux and OSX.

I had some issues whose resolutions I thought I'd share with anyone doing this in case you hit them too.

PyXML 0.8.4 install:
It doesn't seem to create the build/scripts-2.6 folder automatically, so I had to create this manually when I got an error related to it.

SOAPpy install:
I got "SyntaxError: from __future__ imports must occur at the beginning of the file" I had to edit a couple source files (client.py, types.py, server.py) to move the __future__ line to the beginning of the file (up 2 lines).

Instead of: in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("/appinfo.properties");

Use: in = Main.class.getResourceAsStream("/appinfo.properties");

Otherwise Netbeans says: "non-static method getClass() cannot be referenced from a static context"

Anonymous... I must not have paid enough attention to the "crap ware" installed in firefox. Thanks for that detail.

I was more referring to preview software that expires unless you buy it. Most non Linux systems come with to much of that.

As far as the wireless card. I am curious what tweak was needed. For me it fired right up along with all the other hardware.

With 9.04 and 9.10, I literally had to do nothing to get it to work. Granted, I had upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10. There may be something in 9.10 during a clean install affecting wireless.

For whoever posted the above comment, please give more details on the broadcom STA issue. What did you do to make it work?

OK - but this was NOT my experience...
I just bought a Dell Mini 10v, and it shipped with Ubuntu 8.04. There was all kinds of Dell crapware (Yahoo toolbar in Firefox, desktop icon links to e-bay, Youtube, etc, etc.).
I did a clean install of 9.10 and everything worked, except for the wireless card, which had to be tweaked (there is a Broadcom STA driver, but you have to go online with a cable, then download and refresh...).
Once that was all done, I agree, it is a nice machine, and Karmic runs zippily on this setup - and the screen is gorgeous as is the keyboard.
Just want people to be aware, everything is not quite as clean as you make it seem...

I agree with both your approaches however, this requires you to include your keyring password within your project. This may be acceptable for most project but in some cases the password may want to be kept secret.

The main purpose of this blog is to show how to sign your jar files using ANT/Netbeans but with an external script that knows about the password. This way you can share your code but not your password.
